Juvenile GAA Club Coaching & Development

Dear Parent / Guardian
With the proposed development of our grounds, exciting times lie ahead for our community. There is now a great opportunity for all of us to reflect and assess how we operate our club.

Firstly, we would like to thank everybody involved in the running of our club in recent years, and in particular all coaches who have given of their time and effort in developing our juvenile players

Having looked at and spoken with other progressive clubs within our county, there is one glaring shortcoming within our juvenile club and that is the ratio of coaches to players. As per GAA guidelines, the recommended number of mentors/assistants is one adult to every five children. For the last number of years we have fallen below the required amount of coaches/assistants per individual team. We need to act now and change our approach to training and working with our young players.

According to expert coach Paudie Butler, there is a place for all within every club in coaching and assisting coaches to develop our youth. This is a call to YOU to become involved. All help is welcome and necessary to progress our club and bring the best out of all our players. This can be as a coach with any of our individual teams or simply as an assistant whereby you are present and available to give a coach a hand on the morning/evening of a training session.

We plan to hold a meeting shortly for all those interested in getting involved and helping out so that we can share ideas and develop an agreed approach to improve the overall coaching/training of our teams which will in turn benefit each individual child and ensure that all children’s needs are catered for.

We ask that you or any of your family, neighbours or friends who would like to lend a hand in a big or small way, to contact any of our juvenile committee.
