Gortnahoe Glengoole GAA Club notes
County Intermediate Championship draw
We were drawn in group 3 along with Boherlahan Dualla, Cappawhite and Borrisokane with the top 2 teams making it out of the group.
Under 21 football
We await the result of the Holycross v Moyne game this weekend to learn if we make a Mid Final or not. We need a tight Moyne win to progress.
Minor Football
Our Minor footballers travelled to Templetouhy last Sunday to take on Moyne Gaels in round 2 of the Mid Championship. Having started with a defeat to Holycross this team showed they learned lessons from that defeat as they put in a much better performance, we led by 2 at half time thanks to a brilliant solo effort goal from Cian Barnaville. We got off to a slow start in the second half and fell 2 points behind after ten minutes but for the second time in a week we showed great fight and a neat finish from Oisin Cleary to the back of the net gave us some breathing space and we held on to run out 2-8 to 1-9 winners. We are out again in 2 weeks time in round 3.
Congratulations to our newly qualified trainers
Thanks to all club members from the various clubs who completed the GAA Foundation Coaching Course over two nights this week. We are very grateful to all of you. Thanks to our course Tutor Andy Ryan for doing the course. We hope you all learned a lot and gained more confidence which will benefit our various teams going forward. Training for all teams will be getting underway over the coming months and we encourage anybody that is interested in getting involved and lending a hand with any of our Juvenile teams to contact John Teehan or Pat Rochford
Liam Hayes represents Mid Tipp
Current under 16 club player Liam Hayes lined out for Mid Tipp Under 15 Footballers Saturday in the Tipperary inter divisional tournament.
Liam was at centre forward for the first game as Mid Tipp lost to thr South by a single point and also played at full forward in a 4-8 to 0-4 win over the West.
The tournament continues next Wednesday night and a win over the North would see them progress to a final.
