Gortnahoe Glengoole GAA Club notes
County Junior A Football draw
We were drawn in a tough group of this years County Junior football championship which commences on April 14th. We take on Mullinahone, Sean Treacys and Solohead with the top 2 teams making it out of the group
County Hurling League draw
With the league revamped into 16 team divisions this year we were drawn in Div 3 group group 2 along with
Clonoulty Rossmore
Kilsheelan Kilcash
Knockavilla Kickhams
Moyle Rovers
Sean Treacys
Moneygall
Galtee Rovers
The top 2 teams from this group are promoted with the 1st placed team contesting a final versus the 1st place team in Div 3 group 1
Under 21 football
With Moyne defeating Holycross by 11 points we exit this championship on score difference. A crazy system of running this competition led to both groups being decided by score difference as each team won a game out of their 2 games
Minor Football
Our Minor footballers take on Loughmore Castleiney in round 3 of the Mid Championship this Saturday at Pm in Gortnahoe. With one win & one defeat so far another win here would put us in a good position to claim a semi final spot. All support appreciated.
Presentation to Jim & Maeve
At last Tuesday’s Juvenile committee meeting a special presentation was made to outgoing Chairman Jim Lanigan & outgoing Secretary Maeve Maher for their years of dedication and excellence in their respective roles. Well done Guys well deserved.
The juvenile club would also like to acknowledge the contribution of €300 made to the club by the Ballyboys Vehicle Run
Congratulations to Liam Hayes
Well done to Liam Hayes & the Mid Tipperary U15 football team on winning V South Tipp in the Michael Frawley cup final Today
Mid Tipp won out on a score line of 2.09 to 2.08, a great goal by Jake Canny in the last seconds of the game snatching victory.
Great to have a club man involved at such a high standard of football
Pre season fundraiser
Gortnahoe Glengoole GAA club will hold a fundraiser in Prouts Pub, Gortnahoe on Saturday the 9th of March. This event is being run by the Intermediate & Junior Hurlers and footballers and all funds raised will go towards the large cost of registering and insuring the various club teams for the coming season. On the night we will have music by the very popular and recently formed Thurles band ‘Phase 2’. We will also hold a ‘Hang Tough’ challenge on the night for all hurlers, footballers and anybody else who fancies the challenge. A marquee will be erected to ensure we have room for all. This promises to be a great night out and an opportunity for all to get together and look forward to the year ahead. Admission on the night is by ticket only and these can be purchased from any adult player or any member of the management teams.
