Gortnahoe Glengoole GAA club notes week commencing 15th April
Junior Football
Our Junior footballers recorded a great win in round 1 of the County junior football championship in Dundrum on Saturday, despite being short a good few regulars we nonetheless had a strong team out and ran out 1-10 to 0-8 winners. An impressive second half performance against the wind being the difference where we recorded 1-5 of our total. We now face into the mid Championship as the county championship takes a break until August. Mullinahone are next up when this championship resumes where a win would guarantee us coming out of the group
Under 12 football
Under 12 - both football teams concluded their final games in there groups last week and have now exited the championship. Attention has switched to preparing for the upcoming hurling competitions and training continues at the usual times.
Under 16 football
Our under 16 footballers will have played Moyne Templetouhy in round 2 of the championship by the time this goes to print. Best of luck to all involved
Under 14 football
Our under 14 footballers put in a brilliant performance last Thursday night at home to Drom and Inch, we recorded a 2-5 to 2-3 victory with the boys digging in deep near the end to hold out three or four late Drom attacks with Brandon Webster making a vital goal saving tackle in the last attack of the game. We now await the result of next weeks Drom v Loughmore game to know where we stand.
Camogie News
Well done to the u16 Camogie team on winning their championship game against Rockwell Rovers on Monday 9th April
Our JuniorB Camogie girls had their very first League game on Sunday 14th in Gortnahoe against Fethard. The girls put in a great performance in harsh conditions and unfortunately lost to a stronger side on this occasion. The girls are showing great promise and determination as they are only a newly developed team. We wish them and their mentors future success.
