Pride of the parish goes to our Under 12 hurlers who captured the county U12 C cup on Sunday afternoon in Holycross with a 3-8 to 1-7 victory over Lorrha Dorrha.

In perfect conditions for hurling each and every member of this squad played their part in what was a great team display.

Goalkeeper Jason Sinnott was relatively quiet in the 1st half but had to be alert in the 2nd half nonetheless to stop 3 thunder bolts from close range to keep his team in it.

Aaron O Shea cleared ball after ball in the full back line where beside him David Lanigan was reminiscent of a young Paudie Maher with his high fielding and long clearances.

In front of them Captain Shane Phelan was solid as a rock and held his position well and was well assisted by the tigerish and extremely tight marking Brandon Webster.

Mid fielders Liam Hayes and Conor Gleeson got through an amount of work throughout the 40 minutes with Conor chipping in with a point fellow mid fielder Liam Hayes tearing up the field Austin Gleeson style to strike 1-2.

Up front Luke Cavanagh assisted several scores for his fellow forwards throughout and Damien Corbett showed the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in bagging a 1-3 his free scoring Dad would have been proud of!

The inside line of Aidan O Gornan and Bobby Doheny worked very hard against a big physical Lorrha full back line with Aidan winning a couple of frees and Bobby was as prolific as he has been all year coming away with 1-1 from play, his goal beautifully laid on by half time sub Kevin Laffan with his first touch.

Luke Doheny manned the full back line strongly in the 2nd half when introduced as did Adam Butler in the half back line when backs were to the wall trying to repell late Lorrha attacks.

A bright future ahead for this talented bunch and special thanks to the management team of Keith Corbett, Jim Lanigan, kevin Laffan and Sean Lyons for getting the maximum out of a talented bunch.

Last but not least a special mention to Laura Purcell who unfortunately missed the final and her last game with the boys due to a collar bone injury in the semi final. Laura put in a super effort all year and we wish her a speedy recovery
